Historic Mediterranean Revival

1115 N Greenway Dr, Coral Gables

1115 N Greenway Dr, Coral Gables

Reflecting the characteristic flavor of the Mediterranean Revival Style is this historic residence that is the beacon of The Greenways. Architect Louis D. Brumm accomplished this by the juxtaposition of one and two story sections, classic barrel tile roof, prominent arched windows and an open porch featuring round arches springing from turned free-standing columns. The elaborate cast stone of the central doorway focuses the entrance to the home. The detail spans the first and second stories and consists of engaged spiral columns which “carry” the second story. The sconces on either side of the doorway are converted horse hitches taken from the original Waldorf Hotel in NYC. The impressive interiors reflect the ambience of this endearing architecture. Be sure to notice the stained glass panel of the stairwell. It was made around 1920 by the Louis Comfort Tiffany workshop.
